Andrew's work began in the performing arts. After training as an actor at the National Institute of Dramatic Art, Andrew spent 17 years acting professionally before beginning a career training professional actors. Over more than three decades he taught actors in many of Australia's respected performance institutions, and held leadership roles with WAAPA, Actors Centre Australia, NIDA programs and the Academy of Interactive Entertainment.
His actor-training background provided the foundation for his corporate and personal development work.
Using the same skills actors use to walk on stage, hold attention, listen deeply and remain alive under pressure he built practises to help professionals connect, communicate, speak, lead, and influence with greater confidence and authenticity.
BeCome Studios was created to share these practices.
The aim is not to turn people into performers. The aim is to help people return to a fuller version of themselves - embodied, visible, purposeful — to add value to the people and organizations they work with.
Andrew's personal story shaped his work
Raised on a farm in the 90-mile desert and spending his first years deaf in one ear, forced him to develop a strong eye for body language and later, with full hearing restored he also developed a deep love of sound and voice.
Those two sensitivities - what the body reveals and what the voice carries - became central to him being an actor and then a performance coach.
